Rooted at AST — A Scientific Journey | Sara Maimouni (Class of 2009)
Sara Krampe (née Maimouni), Class of 2009, is now based in Germany, where she works as a senior scientist in the field of biotechnology. Her work focuses on advanced biological research and applied life science innovation, contributing to the development of new scientific and medical solutions.
After graduating from AST, she pursued higher studies in the sciences and went on to earn her Ph.D. Her research path has included academic laboratory work and industry research, with a focus on cell biology and related biomedical fields. Over time, she transitioned into biotech research and development, where she now works at the intersection of science and real-world application.
She credits her school years with building discipline, curiosity, and a strong academic foundation that supported her scientific path. Growing up in an AST family also played an important role in shaping her outlook and priorities.
Her message to students?
Stay curious, stay rigorous, and don’t be afraid of long academic paths — they compound over time.
Quote that reminds Sara of AST:
“My father was an AST graduate, and I am an AST graduate — that shared experience shaped our family values, our work ethic, and our sense of responsibility.”
Sara's journey reflects how being rooted at AST can shape both professional direction and personal values for the long term.
